About Me

Albert Greber has been practicing Martial Arts since 1981. The initial spark came from the movies of the charismatic and legendary Bruce Lee who died in 1973. With his own savings Albert started practicing Shotokan Karate in 1981. After three years he moved on to Shorin-Ryu Karate.

Albert's search for martial arts and self-defense fighting techniques applied on the street led him to learn the style of legendary Wing Chun.

It was not easy to find a good school offering reality based self-defense instruction and training at that time. This situation led Albert to get in touch with several martial arts experts.

On his first trip to the USA in 1987 Albert visited the famous "Jet Center" in Van Nuys, California where he met up with Benny "The Jet" Urquidez and later with Bill "Superfoot" Wallace. Peter "Sugarfoot" Cunningham was also practicing as one of Jet's students at that time.

They all had their own special fighting techniques which they performed with great clarity.

Since 1987 Albert has been travelling to the USA once a year. In 1992 he got to know Grandmaster Eric Lee "King of Kata" Hall of Fame. Soon they became friends and also held workshops together in the states.

Even though Eric Lee's kung fu style and forms are exemplary, Albert’s own style was none the less appreciated by Eric.

In 1993 Albert developed and refined his own self-defense techniques and style which he henceforth called "StreetWise".

In 1999, while invited to the Arnold Fitness EXPO in Ohio by Eric Lee, Albert made the acquaintance of Don Wilson, Matthias Hues, Cynthia Rothrock, Cung Le, Frank Shamrock and many others.

From 1993 to 2003 Albert instructed "StreetWise" at schools, hospitals, companies, police departments et cetera. Later he directed his focus on individual training and he now works as a private instructor.

Keith Strandberg, a brilliant writer/producer and a good friend of Albert, now lives in the French part of Switzerland. Keith's great personality and his vast knowledge in fields such as film, martial arts and other categories make him an important person to Albert and his family.
